One of the aims of the EU project HEROES is to recruit caregivers and nursing professionals within the local community for seniors living at home or for institutions in a reliable, fast, and trustworthy way by using an online platform. For quality assurance purposes, the potential candidates are screened and evaluated by experienced senior citizens (mostly care professionals) and qualified care professionals (reviewers) through recorded interviews. Subsequently, those evaluations are provided to the persons requesting support. On the one hand, this should support and facilitate the search for suitable caregivers, and on the other hand, it should make it easier for people who need support to remain independent in their usual environment. A further innovative element of the project is the involvement of senior citizens as experts in the evaluation process, giving them the opportunity to work from home even after their retirement.
