Projects

Since the founding of IMES in 1992, we have successfully completed several hundred projects and collaborated with a large number of companies. The work we have carried out ranges from small consulting assignments to the development of a new generic platform for an entire product range of a medium-sized company. We conduct research and apply it in practice. In doing so, we constantly strengthen our areas of expertise and expand our know-how.

A successful project is usually built on several components. At IMES, we have many of these building blocks for success at our disposal. On one hand, our broad experience helps us. On the other hand, the interdisciplinary environment of OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences supports us. For some projects, our state-of-the-art infrastructure was crucial. Our strong network is also significant. Finally, we can offer our clients various funding options.

A look at our projects reveals the range of our services. Do you have any questions? We look forward to hearing from you.

Research project

Automatic Weld Line Inspection

Every weld has to be measured and recorded over the entire circumference of the pipe.

Research project

A Coating Thickness Measurement Device

The device is able to measure the thickness of paint, galvanized layers such as zinc or chrome, and even anodized layers of aluminum alloys in a measuring range of 0 - 2500 μm.

Research project

Front-end Electronics Integration for Electrical Impedance Tomography

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a promising technology for the diagnosis of acute lung collapses.

Research project

Liquid Level Detection

The pipetting robots are equipped with modern sensors that detect when a pipette touches the underlying liquid.

Research project

Quantum computer-resistant cryptographic algorithmspromising

We were able to reduce the latency of the calculation of a SPHINCS+ signature to 1 millisecond. This corresponds to an acceleration by a factor of 6 compared to the previous record. Another highlight is the discovery and publication of a new type of hardware attack on the otherwise promising NewHope key exchange procedure.

Research project

Front-end chip for proton therapy at PSI

Research project

FPGA-based Time-to-Digital Converters

High-precision time measurements in the picosecond range are essential in various industrial and scientific applications. Applications range from Time-of-Flight (ToF) in LiDAR systems to Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM). The central element of such time measurements is the time-to-digital converter (TDC), which is…
