Test rigs

The Heat Pump Test Center WPZ has commissioned new teststands in June 2016, which meet all requirements of the current test standards. Key data of the current test stands is described below:

air / water test stand

  • 2 air / water test stands à 50 kW at A2/W35 (EN 14511)

    Test stand dimenions: 4.0m x 4.0m x 3.2m
    Door dimensions: 3.0m x 2.5m
  • 1 domestic hot water test stand with water consumption profile from S to XXL (EN 16147 and ErP-Richtlinie)
  • Both brine / water and air / water heat pumps with storage tank can be measured
  • Sound measurements possible
  • The team "Thermal Energy Systems" at the Institute for Energy Systems IES has three psychometric rooms.
  • The two large psychometric rooms can be used separately or in combination.
  • As separate units, test setups can be tested using two different climatic conditions.
  • As a composite, the psychometric rooms may e.g. act for heat pumps as heat source or heat sink.
  • The third and smallest climat chamber, also called climat cabinet, can be used very flexibly. This unit was developed and assembled by the Institute for Energy Systems IES and allows temperature from -30°C to +80°C.
  • The soundproof psychometric room can be used very flexibly.
  • It was developed and assembled by the Institute for Energy Systems IES.
