Nomination process

From real-life student consulting projects to WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD.

In a process consisting of three stages (qualifying, pre-nomination, nomination), the winners are selected according to five assessment criteria (the judging criteria). The nomination and ranking is carried out by the eight-member judging panel, in which six people are top managers from Eastern Switzerland’s economy. 

Assessment criteria for pre-nomination and nomination

  1. Achievement of project objectives 
    all project objectives for the assignment are fulfilled to the best possible extent
  2. Analytically and conceptually substantiated
    scientifically and methodically appropriate, sound and precise
  3. Applicability and effectiveness 
    adequate depth and maturity for application and sustained effectiveness in practice 
  4. Innovation and ingenuity
    intelligent, clever ways of thinking with new findings and approaches 
  5. Management summary 
    overall result summed up in the relevant contexts

Qualifying

All projects of the real-life student consulting project program

qualify to enter the WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD. All of these projects have the opportunity to be pre-nominated and then nominated for the WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD in accordance with the evaluation criteria defined below.

After completion of the real-life student consulting projects in June, the program managers from the Knowledge Transfer Unit assess all of the projects in accordance with the criteria. The following documents are taken into consideration during the process:

  • Final report, incl. management summary and annex
  • Presentation documents 
  • Grading sheet (with assessment of coach and client) 

The best 2 x 6 real-life student consulting projects in the categories Market Research and Management Design are pre-nominated for the WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD and forwarded to the judging panel. Details are provided at the beginning of July.

The high-calibre panel of judges of the WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD spends one month assessing the submitted 2 x 6 pre-nominated real-life student consulting projects in the areas of Market Research and Management Design in writing according to the judging criteria, taking into consideration the following documents:

  • Final report, incl. management summary and annex
  • Presentation documents 
  • Pre-nomination report of the WTT-FHS based on the judging criteria 

The judges meeting 

In mid-August, the judges come together in a meeting to jointly decide on and rank the 2 x 3 nominated project teams in the areas of Market Research and Management Design. The nominations are announced immediately. However, until they are announced at the WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD presentation ceremony, the first, second and third prizes are known only to the judges.
