Typology of methods research (TYPE-ME)
As part of the TYPE-ME project, a proposal for a new typology of methods research is being developed.
Methodological research aims to develop, evaluate, refine, guide, or implement research methods or synthesize existing MR. In the context of health research, many types of MR are published in journals, but their definitions, boundaries, and terminology are inconsistent and unclear.
As part of the TYPE-ME project, a proposal for a new typology of methods research is being developed.
An international team of 11 methodologists develops the typology through a consensus process that includes multiple rounds of discussion, feedback.
The proposed typology provides a structured framework for classifying methods research, helping to clarify terminology and highlight the diversity of approaches and purposes in this field. The open web format www.methods-research-org encourages further development and international collaboration.
