Research project
Power BI-based data analysis for the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital emergency medical services
IMS-OST is supporting the Central Switzerland emergency medical services in further developing emergency medical care in the region. Modern business analysis tools are being used to tap into untapped potential in order to systematically support and communicate data-based insights in a targeted manner.
This includes:
- Supporting software replacement with a Power BI-based, customer-specific evaluation tool for emergency service deployment data,
- Identifying potential for optimization in the areas of territory allocation, bases, and service hours,
- Developing ideas for the further development of emergency services toward greater regional cooperation.
As part of the software replacement, data storage requirements (database and data model) are being developed and implemented in collaboration with the ICT department of Lucerne Cantonal Hospital. In close cooperation with the Central Switzerland Rescue Service, existing performance indicators are being critically reviewed, new meaningful performance indicators are being developed, and interactive dashboards are being implemented. The needs-based and individual development of specific evaluations enables the Central Switzerland Rescue Service to gain a sound understanding of its operational processes, thereby supporting strategic decision-making with facts.
The targeted provision of evaluations and dashboards enables the Central Switzerland Rescue Service to communicate efficiently and factually with internal and external stakeholders, thereby laying an important foundation for the long-term development of rescue services in the region.
