As in previous years, when the IMES team visited the Buchs and St. Gallen campuses, this year also focused on exchanging ideas with another OST location. The head of the ISF, Dejan Šeatović, welcomed the guests and introduced them to the work of the institute.

Nils Zehner's presentation highlighted how the ISF, in collaboration with Agroscope and the Swiss Future Farm, serves as an ideal partner in the field of smart farming to test new technological approaches. Zehner emphasized the importance of forward-looking and sustainable agriculture and presented innovative strategies that the ISF is pursuing.

During the tour of the farm led by Ueli Schild the IMES team was particularly impressed by the presentation of a milking robot. This robot uses ultrasound, laser, and optical sensors to automatically attach the milking equipment to the cows' udders and analyzes the milk's quality and composition using additional sensors. This technology highlighted the potential for collaboration in the field of sensor technology.

At the end, participants had the opportunity to drive a high-tech tractor across the grounds, rounding off the day with a hands-on experience. The visit to Tänikon provided the IMES team with valuable insights into the work of the ISF and opened up new perspectives for future collaborations in the field of intelligent systems and sustainable agriculture.

The IMES team would like to thank Dejan Šeatović and his team for the warm welcome and the insightful glimpse into their activities.
