The Journey of your Cup

1. Cup into the Collector

After you enjoyed your beverage, throw your empty CircCup into the collector. Now your cup is off on an exciting journey!

 

2. The Cups are turned into Raw Material

The cups are transported to the company Resilux. There, the collected cups are cleaned, sorted and processed into small plastic flakes. Those are called “rPET recycled material«.

 

3. The Raw Material is turned back into Cups

Bachmann Forming then uses these small plastic flakes to produce the beautiful new CircCups. These are then returned to the stadium, ready for the next cold drink! Thanks to your support, the cycle is complete.

 

4. Bar Service

Now, we wish you an exciting match with your CircCup! And if you bring back your cup to the collecting station, it will go off on a new journey.

Description

Through the CircCup project, OST - the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland - is working with project partners Bachmann Forming AG, Resilux Schweiz AG, Brauerei Schützengarten AG, and the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers to establish a closed-loop system for single-use rPET cups.

At the heart of the project is the development and testing of a circular cup system in which used rPET cups are collected after use, processed, and recycled into new cups. The goal is to demonstrate that single-use cups are not necessarily waste but can be kept in the cycle as a valuable raw material.

The project is supported by Innosuisse, the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion, and brings together expertise from research, materials development, production, logistics, and application in a practical demonstration project.
