“InGe Dialogue” The Use of an Innovative Dialogue Format to Promote Intergenerational Encounters in Nursing Homes and Childcare Centers

Intergenerational programs foster encounters between young and old and strengthen social cohesion. Despite their potential, stable structures for the sustainable integration of such programs in care institutions are lacking in Switzerland. This project addresses this gap by bringing together various stakeholders within a dialogue forum.

Within intergenerational programs, children and older adults can benefit from one another. However, Switzerland lacks the structural conditions necessary to make such programs easily accessible, sustainably embedded, and long-term supported in institutions such as nursing homes or childcare centers.
Our project systematically brings together key stakeholders from practice, policy, and research. Through a dialogue-oriented forum, the project aims to identify which support structures are needed and how they can be effectively implemented. The dialogue is intended to serve as the foundation for a future “Swiss Alliance for Intergenerationality.” The long-term goal is to pool competencies, strengthen innovation potential, and enable lasting collaborations for intergenerational initiatives.
