Exchange Semester – School of Social Work
Students from our partner universities have the opportunity to complete up to two semesters of theoretical study and/or practical training at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST). For the master's degree program, a maximum of one semester is available.

How do I apply?
1. The OST recommends planning and preparing early (approximately six to twelve months before your exchange). Applications must be submitted through the International Office of your home university. In addition, approval and nomination by your home university are required for an exchange semester.
Nomination deadlines (by email to io-socialwork@ost.ch):
- May 15 (Fall Semester)
- October 15 (Spring Semester)
Application deadlines (submit all documents by email to io-socialwork@ost.ch):
- June (Fall Semester)
- November (Spring Semester)
Your application must include the following documents:
• Application Form
• Learning Agreement
• Photo for the Campus Card
• Copy of your ID
2. Information about the program, including its structure, mandatory modules, specialization modules, and other details, is available in our Program. Each semester, the OST also offers a wide range of elective mandatory modules. We are happy to send you detailed module descriptions by email.
3. If you are interested in a practical module, please contact us, ideally before calendar week 4 for a practical module in the Fall Semester or before calendar week 26 for a practical module in the Spring Semester. You may then apply directly to the placement organizations in writing. A contract will be concluded between you, the placement organization, and the OST. You will also be assigned to a supervision group.

How can I find accommodation?
The OST does not provide student housing. However, we are happy to assist you in finding accommodation.
Through a housing placement service, you can rent accommodation costing approximately EUR 500 to EUR 700 per month. All exchange students have a private room, while the kitchen and bathroom are shared with other exchange students. The accommodations are fully furnished and include Wi-Fi. The application deadlines are May 15 and October 15.
