Organizations are increasingly reliant on professionals who are capable of designing and implementing AI-driven business and compliance processes in a legally compliant and responsible manner. The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Artificial Intelligence and Compliance provides the essential expertise required to strategically, securely, and compliantly implement and further develop AI applications within the compliance domain.

 

Artificial Intelligence is fundamentally transforming how organizations meet compliance obligations and manage risks. Ongoing digitalization and increasingly complex regulatory frameworks make the targeted and responsible use of AI a critical competitive advantage.

This CAS program equips participants with a comprehensive understanding of state-of-the-art AI technologies and their practical application in compliance functions. Participants will learn how to tailor AI solutions to their organization’s specific needs while ensuring alignment with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

The program consists of two modules and a project component:

AI Fundamentals and Applications

  • Overview of machine learning techniques and generative AI
  • Practical use cases in compliance and AI-supported risk management tools 

Compliance, Regulation, and Governance

  • Applicable legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Ethical considerations in the use of AI
  • AI governance, corporate strategy, and practical insights from industry experts 

Project Work

Participants will develop and present a practice-oriented project focused on implementing AI within their organization, supported by peer collaboration and expert coaching.

Target Group

This program is designed for professionals and managers working in compliance, legal, risk management, and related fields who wish to develop AI competencies without requiring prior technical expertise in AI. It is also suitable for professionals in regulated industries seeking to implement or assess AI-based systems.

Admission

Admitted are persons

  • with a recognized tertiary degree (University, University of Applied Sciences, Higher Technical School or Higher Professional Examination)
  • with qualified professional experience
  • with activity in a field of work where they can apply what they have learned (principle of transfer orientation)

Applicants who have comparable degrees and appropriate professional experience may be admitted on the basis of an individual review of their application.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the functioning of AI systems (including machine learning and large language models) and their application in compliance processes;
  • Analyze relevant legal frameworks (including the EU AI Act, GDPR, and Swiss DSG) and assess their impact on AI-driven business operations;
  • Evaluate the opportunities and risks associated with AI use in legal and compliance contexts and formulate appropriate recommendations;
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies integrating AI tools in accordance with regulatory requirements;
  • Apply AI-based methods in risk analysis, particularly in competition and antitrust law;
  • Plan and conduct internal investigations using AI and open-source intelligence tools;
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of AI applications that meet compliance standards;
  • Effectively utilize AI tools for professional and managerial tasks (e.g., reporting, risk management, RegTech solutions);
  • Identify and address ethical considerations in AI deployment within business environments;
  • Communicate AI-related risks and compliance strategies effectively to various stakeholders, including management, regulators, and employees.
