Master Business Engineering (MSE)

Business Engineering combines data, processes, and innovation to help companies develop in a way that prepares them for the future. You will optimize value chains, make targeted use of data and artificial intelligence, and thereby make an important contribution to Switzerland as an industrial hub. You will tackle current challenges from the business world and research in a practical, hands-on manner.

Admission
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the field of Business Engineering. Academic performance across the entire Bachelor’s program must correspond to an ECTS grade of A or B.

Technology and Innovation Management
Technologies are central to the development and commercialisation of innovative products, services, business models and processes. They rank among the most important strategic resources for product- and process-oriented companies. In the Technology and Innovation Management specialisation, you will acquire the skills to identify, develop, utilise, protect and evaluate technologies and customer needs in a targeted manner.
Operations and Production Management
You will gain a fundamental understanding of operational management methods and learn how labour, energy and materials are efficiently and effectively transformed into products and services. The engineering-based approach to operations management focuses on the collection and analysis of data and formal models in decision-making. You will acquire skills in risk and quality management.
Service Engineering
The service sector is the most important sector of the economy in many industrialised countries. The ability to develop and improve services is a key factor for success. Even within industry, services enhance the value of products. The MSE specialisation in Service Engineering takes a structured, engineering-based approach with a focus on data and information and communication technologies.
Business and Production Analytics
You will learn the methodology for measuring, evaluating and analysing the historical performance of business and production systems, and how to use this to make forecasts. You will learn how to use data to gain insights for optimising production processes. You will know how to implement the Smart Factory.
Supply Chain Management
Supply Chain Management (SCM) integrates all activities involved in the flow of goods and services – from the supplier right through to the end customer. By focusing on core competencies, coherent outsourcing and offshoring decisions, and the selection of appropriate distribution network configurations, we show you how supply chains can be strategically designed, coordinated and aligned with long-term business objectives.
Life Cycle Management
Product Life Cycle Management (LCM) deals with the process of managing the entire life cycle of industrial products and capital goods such as machinery and infrastructure. In the manufacturing sector, LCM focuses on the effective integration of people, data and business systems such as ERP, PLM and MES during development and use.
