Article in netzwoche on the Role of Accessibility in Teaching

In an article in netzwoche, Prof. Markus Stolze and Prof. Frieder Loch shed light on the role of accessibility in computer science teaching at the OST and how new technologies are being developed in applied research projects to make teaching materials accessible.

The accessibility of digital systems is a fundamental requirement that must be considered when designing and developing new systems. In addition to the wide range of technologies that support the creation of accessible applications, students must also develop an awareness of the problem. To this end, empathy during the contact of those affected with digital systems has proven its worth.

Furthermore, teaching materials in computer science must also be made accessible so that they can also be used by students with disabilities. In an application-oriented research project, approaches were developed that enable UML diagrams, for example, to be converted into tactile 3D prints with minimal effort.
