Bachelor Artificial Intelligence

“Study AI before it studies you.”

Artificial intelligence has long been an integral part of our private and professional lives: AI is at the heart of video games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, voice apps such as DeepL, and social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. At the same time, AI plays a central role in industry, where it optimizes processes, increases efficiency and supports informed decisions. As an AI engineer, you will acquire the skills to develop such innovative systems yourself - with a particular focus on ensuring that they are secure, scalable and ethically responsible.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence helps computers make sense of complex data, revealing patterns and insights that would otherwise go unnoticed. The goal is always to create solutions that are accurate, effective and well aligned with the needs of the users. The aim is to build Artificial Intelligence systems that are powerful, user-friendly, and economically viable and yet, scalable, and safe, and fair.

Why study Artificial Intelligence?

  • High Market Demand: The demand for Artificial Intelligence professionals is rapidly increasing as businesses across all industries seek to integrate Artificial Intelligence technologies into their operations. Companies are looking for skilled individuals who can understand both the technical aspects and the real-world applications of Artificial Intelligence to drive innovation.
  • Impact on Society and Everyday Life: Artificial Intelligence is transforming many areas of our lives, from healthcare and finance to entertainment and education. By studying Artificial Intelligence, you will have the opportunity to design and create technologies that address real-world problems, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of life for people worldwide.
  • Versatile Skill Set: Studying Artificial Intelligence equips you with a unique combination of analytical, problem-solving, and creative skills. These abilities, along with expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and ethical considerations, make you a highly versatile professional in fields such as technology, business, and research.
  • Ethical and Responsible AI Development: Artificial Intelligence has the potential to greatly benefit society, but it also comes with ethical challenges. By studying Artificial Intelligence, you can help shape responsible, fair, and transparent Artificial Intelligence systems that are designed with societal needs and ethical standards in mind, ensuring that Artificial Intelligence technologies serve the greater good.

With the new Bachelor Artificial Intelligence, we want to enable our students to contribute to the competitiveness of companies immediately after graduation in the increasingly fast-paced tech world. AI solutions will also give small and medium-sized enterprises a competitive edge in the future.

“The part-time AI course gave me a deep understanding of modern AI methods - from theory to practice. This prepared me perfectly for my bachelor's thesis in the field of legal tech, which I am now developing further at my employer by developing AI-supported solutions for analyzing and processing legal documents.”

Dario Glasl

“Studying at the most beautiful campus right by the lake combined an inspiring environment, AI development and valuable friendships.  In my Bachelor's thesis, I worked with the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) to develop an AI system for recognizing pitons in climbing routes - an exciting combination of AI and outdoor sports. The course has deepened my knowledge and opened up new career prospects for me.”

Nick Wallner

“My computer science studies began without a clear specialization, but thanks to the free choice of modules, I discovered my passion for AI. This allowed me to deepen my knowledge from the mathematical basics to the practical application of modern AI models. In my bachelor's thesis, I developed an AI system for digitizing historical documents, which is being further expanded today. This flexibility allowed me to apply my knowledge directly to real projects.”
