What is Digital Design?

Digital Design focuses on the creation and optimization of digital products and services, always keeping user needs at the center. Successful development, however, also requires consideration of technical constraints (such as the complexity of different design options) and economic factors (like the underlying business model). The goal of Digital Design is to create solutions that are easy to use, efficient, and economically successful.

Program Contents

In the Digital Design program, you’ll explore User-Centered Design, Web Engineering, Ideation & Workshops, and Ethics & Sustainability. You’ll deepen your knowledge through exciting, socially relevant application projects.

  • User-Centered Design: To create attractive and intuitive products, you’ll learn to empathize with users and understand their abilities and needs. You’ll master methods for analyzing, designing, and improving user interfaces and apply these skills in practical, hands-on projects.
  • Web Engineering: Develop the skills to independently implement your designs using modern programming languages (e.g., Python) and cutting-edge web technologies (e.g., Angular). Collaborate with computer science students in team projects and gain experience with agile development processes.
  • Ideation & Workshops: Product development often involves collaboration across various roles, such as product management and marketing. You’ll learn how to support these processes by planning and facilitating workshops, ensuring that user needs are effectively addressed throughout development.
  • Ethics & Sustainability: In today’s digital world, responsible and sustainable action is more critical than ever. You’ll learn to identify and evaluate ethical issues to design inclusive products that positively impact society.
  • Application Projects: Work on five team projects to develop innovative solutions in various fields. These projects align with current research topics and societal trends, such as promoting sustainable behaviors through apps. Each project is guided by experts from industry and research, ensuring high-quality mentorship.
