REVEAL Workshop: Aluminium as an Renewable Energy Carrier of the Future – Results from Four Years of Horizon Europe Research

How can renewable energy be stored long-term and made easily transportable to cover winter heat and electricity demand? These and related questions have been addressed over the past four years by the Horizon Europe project REVEAL together with research and industry partners from across Europe.

REVEAL Workshop: Aluminium as an Renewable Energy Carrier of the Future – Results from Four Years of Horizon Europe Research

Thursday, 18. Jun. 2026, 13:30 - 16:30,
OST, Campus Rapperswil, Building 3, Room 3.114

At our final REVEAL Workshop, we will present cutting-edge technologies and findings related to aluminium as a transportable renewable metal energy carrier (ReMEC) and long-term energy storage solution – ranging from carbon-free aluminium production and aluminium-to-energy conversion to the overall environmental assessment of the energy storage cycle.

The workshop will include contributions on:

• Practical implementation of the REVEAL energy storage concept
• Technological developments in carbon-free aluminium production
• Prototype for heat and electricity generation from aluminium
• CO₂ reduction potentials of the REVEAL energy storage cycle

The event will be held in English and can be attended both on-site at Ostschweizer Fachhochschule in Rapperswil and online.

Participation is free of charge.

The project was supported by Horizon Europe and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
