Robotics and artificial intelligence are among the most important technologies shaping the future. OST supports this development through applied research, practice-oriented education and continuing education, as well as close collaboration with industry.
As the Center for Applied Robotics | Artificial Intelligence, OST ROBOTICS serves as the central hub for robotics and AI at OST. The Center consolidates the university’s expertise in research, innovation and technology transfer, making it accessible to companies, institutions, and public organisations.
Interdisciplinary teams support projects from the initial challenge through feasibility assessment to a validated demonstrator. The result is practical solutions that bridge current research and real-world requirements, enabling technologies to be integrated safely, reliably and cost-effectively into operational environments.

How does a robotics project with OST begin?
The starting point is your question, the desired outcome and the technical conditions. OST ROBOTICS then brings together the appropriate institutes and fields of expertise and works with you to clarify feasibility, project format, funding and next steps.
What project formats are available?
Depending on the objective and maturity level, options include feasibility studies, prototypes and demonstrators, bilateral research and development projects, as well as publicly funded projects. The appropriate format is determined together during the initial discussion.
What can you expect at the OST ROBOTICS Showroom?
The planned OST ROBOTICS Showroom will bring topics such as mobile and collaborative robotics, laboratory automation, human–robot interaction and physical AI to life through practical demonstrators. Visitors will gain insights into current research and development projects as well as innovative applications from teaching and research.
Can you study robotics at OST?
Robotics is already embedded in several bachelor’s and master’s programmes. A robotics track spanning multiple degree programmes or an additional qualification may be considered at a later stage, depending on demand and resources.
How can students get involved?
Students can contribute through project work and theses, industry projects, interdisciplinary development teams and, in the future, through the OST ROBOTICS Club.
