Beyond the Classroom: Simulated Learning in Contemporary Social Work Education (Vorlesung 3)

This session explores how simulation and experiential learning can prepare social work students for the realities of contemporary practice. Drawing on innovative teaching approaches used within the social work programme at the University of Plymouth, the session will introduce immersive learning experiences including actor-led simulations, court room exercises, and self-neglect/hoarding scenarios. The session will explore how simulation can support communication skills, ethical decision-making, confidence, emotional preparedness, and professional identity within social work education. Participants will have an opportunity to take part in a live interactive activity and reflect on how experiential learning can enhance social work training across different international contexts.
