Seminar – Immersive technologies for the wind energy workforce
VR/AR applications enable wind energy technicians to virtually step inside a turbine nacelle, overlay live SCADA data on real machines, or collaborate via holographic digital twins from across the globe. Trainees can rehearse rescue operations or gearbox replacements safely in a headset, without exposure to heights, weather, or moving machinery. On site, smart glasses can stream their view to a remote engineer, who can annotate the technician’s field of vision in real time—reducing downtime and the need for costly helicopter visits. These tools accelerate onboarding, preserve expert knowledge, reduce travel-related emissions, and help meet the wind industry’s growing demand for skilled workers while enhancing safety standards.
Participants attending in person are warmly invited to stay for networking and refreshments afterward.
