OpenIMPACT

Wind energy project planning and operation is particularly difficult in Switzerland due to its complex terrain and challenging weather conditions. This requires Swiss wind farm planners and operators to apply a range of different advanced modelling and analysis techniques to each site, making it difficult to transfer experience and methods between projects.

In this project therefore, we are developing an open source library for the application of innovative machine learning algorithms to optimise the performance of wind farms in complex terrain based on SCADA data. We focus on complex terrain to serve the needs of the Swiss market and Swiss product and service providers. To do this, we focus on three real-world use cases and use the results to develop generalised methods for the open-source library.
