Research project
PlasmaTar II - exhaust air solution for the asphalt industry
Getting around - on foot, by bike or by car - our mobility is closely linked to modern infrastructure, e.g. paths and roads. At UMTEC, in collaboration with our industrial partner, we are developing a new process to make asphalt production sites sustainable and future-proof in terms of exhaust air purification.
High emission standards and almost unavoidable odour emissions pose major technical challenges for asphalt production sites, especially if they are located close to cities. The available technology, so-called thermal oxidation plants, can only be operated with renewable energy sources to a limited extent. They are associated with high operating costs and high energy losses.
UMTEC is currently working at full speed on a sustainable exhaust air solution for the asphalt industry. Modern methods and high-performance analytics are being used. The aim of the project is to be able to use sustainable electricity through innovative processes for exhaust air purification. In addition to the ecological aspects, the new process should also be economically viable.
