HT-PCM – Development of a high temperature phase change material slurry storage
The project HT-PCM aims at providing the experimental proof of concept of using slurry phase change materials (PCM) for temperature ranges in between 110 °C to 160 °C. The storage concept is designed to be integrated with solar thermal collectors to provide solar process heat to industries. The slurry PCM solution is expected to decrease cost by eliminating the heat exchangers in the storage achieving a latent energy density in the range of 80 kWh per m³ of storage volume at a cost lower than that of synthetic oil.
