Julian Hirt joined the Department of Health at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences in 2017 and mainly worked on the AGE-NT and AGE-INT project, both SERI-funded and collaborative projects. His teaching and research topics are evidence synthesis, methods (research), and meta-research within a team of national and international collaborators to inform evidence-based healthcare and research.
Julian has been a Professor in Evidence Synthesis at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences since 2025 and the Co-Director of the JBI Centre for Evidence-Based Healthcare Eastern Switzerland that was founded in 2026.
Julian co-developed RefHunter, a platform for systematic literature search, and the TARCiS statement that provides guidance on terminology, application, and reporting of citation searching. Julian is a core team member of the Library of Guidance for Health Scientists (LIGHTS) and the STandards for the development REseArch Methods guidance (STREAM) initiative and an advisory board member of the Evidence Synthesis Taxonomy Initiative.
Julian is also a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Bern (Pragmatic Evidence Lab at the Department of Clinical Research) where he is mainly working on evidence syntheses, Delphi studies, and meta-research in medicine and health sciences; and a Research and Teaching Affiliate at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Halle (Saale) in Germany.
