Text Classification with Born's rule

This talk presents a novel classification algorithm inspired by the notion of superposition of states in quantum physics and discusses its implementation in python. The implementation is compatible with the scikit-learn ecosystem. It supports both dense and sparse inputs and GPU-accelerated computing via cupy. Furthermore, the classifier can be embedded in a neural network architecture using pytorch. The network supports real and complex-valued inputs and outputs probabilities in the range [0, 1]. Classification performance, explainability, and computational efficiency are discussed. The method also applies to non-textual data and can be used in practice as a general-purpose classifier

Guidotti Emanuele is about to finish is Phd in Finance at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. His paper titled Text Classification with Born's Rule appeared in the prestigious conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeuriPS 2022) in 2022. He will present his work at OST on 7th March 2023 just before the AI-Stammtisch. After his talk, Guidotti Emanuele will also attend the AI Stammtisch.

Guidotti Emanuele is a partner at Algo Finance Sagl: a software house startup developing financial algorithms for the asset management industry. He is also about to finish is Phd in Finance at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. His research interests include asset pricing and market microstructure and natural language processing. He is passionate about interdisciplinary data science and AI projects.
